The TCP/IP protocol has allowed Patriot to integrate alarm and access control monitoring not just in LAN environments, but across global precincts. Patriot Systems offers an integrated monitoring and control solution across Wide and Local Area Networks (WANs and LANs). The system allows for the monitoring (and in some cases control) of panels directly from a single control room running the Patriot software. The use of IP addressing via a TCP/IP adapter connected to a suitable panel allows comms over networks covering a confined geographic area (LAN) or anywhere in the world (WWW). Patriot supports a growing list of panels with IP support. All panels are continually polled. The software provides immediate notification should there be a break down in communication between a panel and the software, either caused by network fault or malicious attack. An operator has a browse where he/she can view the online / fault status of all panels at any time. All supported panels have backup dialler capability. The power, low-cost and flexibility of the overall solution are its greatest assets. Operating in a similar fashion to a direct line systems such as EarthNet, Secritel or Redcare, this method of monitoring provides a greater level of security than that offered by monitoring over PSTN lines. As many larger organizations already have LANs and WANs in place, no added line charges means this is a very cost effective solution. |
